Lobotomy needed ??

Recommended Posts

I am only 3 weeks post op but at what point do you stop thinking about ways to cheat the band, realize that last 3 bites is going to make you really uncomfortable and you choose not to take them anyway. Remembering not to drink for 2 hours following meals..

I realize the band is just a tool and it's up to me to work it. Now that the physical appetite is under control how do I get the mental one under control? I am seriously wondering if I need to consider counsling, OA something. I know it's early, heck I havn't even had a fill yet but I'm already starting to think I can't do this..

If you decide you can't then you won't. You have to make the choice. If you force yourself to stop eating on time for a few days, it will get easier. If you force yourself to stop eating on time for a few weeks, you will find it much easier. Hang in there. If you decide to do what it takes, it will get better.

I did therapy before the band to prepare myself and I will do a few sessions when I feel I need a little boost. I thought I would have a hard time trying to explain my feelings to someone that had never even had a weight problem but it is really more of a mental issue anyway so it was a good thing. I am an emotional eater and that is what therapy is all about, the emotions. Keep your head up and I am sure it gets better. I am only 2 weeks out from surgery and this site helps A LOT.

It's a process. You have a lifetime of bad habits to correct, and that won't happen overnight. If you make a point of focusing on the habits you wish to adopt, and extend yourself some grace and patience, it will begin to fall into place as you approach restriction.

Every day of "practice" takes you closer to well-established, healthy new habits.

Will you slip up? Sure. Especially during the early weeks/months, when you don't really have the restriction you need. But it really gets so much easier with time (and adjustment).

Kas - I know your doubts, I've had them too but I think once you see more weight coming off and clothes fitting better it will click in your head that this is the best thing you could have done for yourself.

I also think your mind will change when you've had a fill. I get my first in a few days and I can't wait because right now I could eat ANYTHING. I am going on sheer willpower to not.

I think each office offers a support group and you should look into it and get some help face to face with others that are in your shoes.

Best wishes to you and your band!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
