I went for a fill last Thursday and was able to drink liquids fine. Friday, I was extremely tight and eventually could keep nothing down. Saturday I called my doctor and .5 was taken out. They told me to go ahead and eat normal food. All day Saturday, Sunday and Monday I was fine and could eat solids without issue (provided I chewed well.) Yesterday I started to get tight again. I could keep down fluids, but no solids. This morning I could keep nothing down. I went back to my doctor, prepared for another small unfill. They made me do a standing barium swallow. I could see that it passed through my band without issue. They gave me some antacid samples and sent me on my way.

I have not been able to keep anything down all day. One sip of Water causes excruciating pain in my chest and I can only keep it down by gritting my teeth and WILLING it to stay down (and that doesn't always work.) The pain stays until it comes up or about 2 hours pass.

Any ideas? Anybody have this happen before?

Sorry the post is so long.

If I couldn't drink Water, I'd be at the doctor's door the minute they opened.

You do not want to become dehydrated.

How much was the fill on Thursday?

The fact that you not only can't seem to keep Water down but are having pain is very much a cause for concern and it should be for your doctor, too. Demand to see your doctor and have some (all?) fill taken out until you start to heal and are able to eat and drink normally. Then think about getting a small fill down the road when you are better.

My fill last Thursday was 1.5. I called my doctor and went in tonight at .6 was removed. So far, all is well. Water has never tasted so good!! Thanks for the suggestions.

Agree on the hot liquids, at first they seem to be all that will go down in the morning!

I went in last Thursday and had a fill 1cc. I was able to drink Water after the fill and throughout the next three days. However, yesterday and today I am extremely tight and struggling to get Soups and fluids down and I'm not about to try solids at this point. I'm thinking I need to go in and have some removed and after reading your discussions think that's what has to be done.

Isn't it a challenge to know when to unfill and when not to? I have watched my close friend struggle with this - as some days are fine and then the next she feels too tight...I know for me, though, when my sinuses are draining a lot or when it is "that time of the month" I am MUCH tighter than normal....or on days when the humidity was so stinking high this summer I could tell a difference too. WIERD!

Hang in there! Hope you get everything resolved.

I wish I could give you advice but I've never been that tight. I'm holding at 7.3 and doing pretty well - although my doctor wanted to tweak me last week and I told him no. I am tighter in the mornings and usually have a Protein shake but then open up as the day goes on.

I do agree that the warmer liquids help. On days when I'm tight or after I've just flown, the warmer drinks help.

I am so glad you mentioned that because there have been so many times when I have had hormone issues and get incredibly tight.... especially when my hormones are messed up more than they are not!

I didn't know if other people experienced that..... been on mostly liquids for about a week now...

HELP ! as always i am screaming for help. I had a fill (my 3rd) I had to go back the following week because i was not able to get anything to stay down. They took a small amt out. The following week (last week)they had to take more out because I was having acid reflux so bad at night. Well I can now eat or drink anything and went to support group today and have gained 2lbs. What is a girl to do?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
