New Kind of Peanut Butter Help

Recommended Posts

I LOVE Jif PB, but between 16 grams of fat for a 2 tbs. serving as well as 190 calories for the same serving size, it just isn't something I can have very often because...well...that is 200 calories!

Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative that has the same basic taste and consistency as Jif? I always expect there to be some difference in products as far as taste and consistency when we LapBanders are looking for alternatives, but a girl can only go so far!

I am completely open to peanut spreads as well as almond spreads and don't really care if they they have to be stirred with each use. Thanks a million!!!

YES there is help for you! lol. There is a powdered Peanut Butter called PB2. Its different from the other "alternatives" out there because it is actually real roasted peanuts that are pressed into powder. You can use milk or Water to reconstitute it and it tastes great. Or u can sprinkle the powder onto your food or into sauces and shakes. Its really tasty stuff! Thanks to Momof2redheads (sp?) for suggesting it to me. It only has 45 calories and it is VERY low in fat (5g I think). The company is called Bell Plantation or you can just google it. Try it. See if that works for you.

I've used PB2 in the past and it's fine but their is a product called Better-n-peanut butter that is soooo good. You can get it at Trader Joe's and they have a website. It has 100 calories for 2 T and 2 grams of fat. It has really saved me, I love, love, love it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
