Recommended Posts

I am sooooo excited! I have bcbs/il and it only took them 6 days to approve me. My 3 month pre surgery requirements was a breeze. I am so glad that I have made the decision to get lap band. I was not an overweight child but after having 4 kids the weight just kept comming. I feel like this was one of the biggest decision of my life next to getting married and having children. I want to take back my life and get healthy. I have so many emotions going on right now. But I will be banded on october 19th and it can't come soon enough. I have read about the diets before surgery but I was glad to here my doctor tell me all I needed to do was go on a high Protein diet to shrink the liver. So I will keep you all posted throughout my journey... Beyonce watch out girl... Here I come!!!

Dhawkins,

That is great to hear. I was recently approved also. I am so happy to have my surgery. I am scheduled for November 2nd. I wasn't overweight as a child either. I had two boys pretty much back to back and gained alot of weight. I gained almost 100 pounds since meeting my husband. Since I am only 30 I decided I didn't want to spend the rest of my life this way. I am really to lose weight. And your right about Beyonce, she better watch out! LOL!

I am so happy for all of you also. But ok I have a small problem. I had a upper gi done and it shows that I have gastritis and esophagitis. I am praying that this won't stop me from getting the band. I have read that you can't get the band if you have theses issues. Please can someone tell me something good.... I am in tears.....

This is for dhawkins i had the same thing done and esophagitis was seen and my specialist said this would not be a problem for the surgery at all so check with your dr because my specialist also has done research on the bariatric procedures, so i trust what he says actually a nurse friend of mines says some reflux problems will be resolved by the surgery, so dont worry just ask a your surgeon or dr and keep in touch

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
