I have never tried Zumba but it sounds like fun. I work with a trainer 2 times a week and run on the weekend. I would like to give yoga a try.

I have a good friend who raves about Zumba and I would definitely like to try it sometime. Right now I do the elliptical, an arc trainer, walk, swim and weights. Not all in the same day of course.

Sndy..omg girl..you should try it..it has you sweating like a pig but it's soooo fun.

Maryk..wow you are very active! that is awesome. I've tried the eliptical but it's so hard on my knees..my first marriage we'd dance to this kind of music..my second husband doesn't really know how to dance to it so it feels great to get out and shake my bon bon..although i've got the dvd's it's much more fun to do it with other people! keep up the great work outs!

I ride a bike. Now that it's cold outside and I'm not that crazy, I set up a trainer inside for my bike. I also do some strength training. I would like to give yoga a try and maybe some Wii games (like Just Dance--my 3 year old likes to "dance").

I wear a pedometer and try to get over 10,000 steps a day. I have been traveling a lot with work lately and try to hit the treadmil at least 30 minutes a day three times a week. I have lost a total of 85 lbs since April 13 2010. I wat to loose 35 more. I try to keep the mindset of, "Keep Moving". The pedometer really helps me stay motivated.

Good Luck to all!

I was able to try Zumba last summer, and it was a blast. Unfortunately, the class schedule and my work schedule don't mesh. I just started doing the "Insanity" video last week, only 2-3 times a week instead of 6. It is kicking my butt big time.

I have been walking and playing racquetball with my husband. It is amazing how much longer I can play with the weight that I have lost thus far. Cannot wait to get to goal... I can really feel a difference now.

I cross train (in a class) 3-4 times a week, use the elliptical and arc trainer 3-4 times a week, and sometimes do a spinning class. When its warm outside, I walk 2-3 miles everyday too. Can't wait for spring - I'm really missing my walks. One of the best parts of my day.

I walk in my neighborhood 30-40min or I go to the gym. I broke down and joined one 5 min from home, women only. I do 30 min on elliptical and cycle, then I do 30 min on the weight machines. I have Wii and so many games, but got bored with them. I sometimes do Walk Away Pounds DVDs too.

Im not doing well in this area.

When I walk, it feels really, really good! I also have a stationary bike and when I ride that I feel like Ive accomplished something.

But I am not a regular exerciser--don't follow my example!!!

One thing I have found helpful is to get massages. Not only do they feel wonderful, but they help me actually feel where my body stops these days. I mention this because I also love feeling my new, smaller body sensations when I walk around the park (at an exercise-walk pace)--which goes back to the original question.

The nurturing from massages is a sweet gift I give myself along the way.

I would like to try Zumbia don't know if I could keep up though? I have a Total Gym in my bedroom and I love, love, love it. It works all your muscles. I would recommend it to anyone. Warm in the winter and cool in the summer and I watch TV while working out. But I need to do some cardio.

Since the start, I've been a dedicated runner. I supplement with a bootcamp twice a week and I go to a spin class every now and then, and I also do a bit of strength training at home. Like instead of a run, I might hoik a sandbag around - squat and lunge with it etc and intersperse that with short runs on the treadmill between sets. I also mix longer, slower runs with sprint/interval sessions. So basically, i stick with running and circuit training but constantly vary the way i do it.

its worked well for me. I am effortlessly maintaining weight loss with no fill in my band, I lost well over 120% of my excess weight, my blood pressure is low, my heart rate is often under 50 and its given me the body I wanted - long and lean with functional strength but only feminine amounts of muscle.

I vary my daily excersise with the stationary bike, elliptical, treadmill. Usually 4 days a week I exercise 30-40 minutes and for the remaining 3 days of the week 60-70 minutes.

Seems to be working for me.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
