First stuck episode I think...

Recommended Posts

For lunch I had a boneless skinless chicken breast that I pan fried in a teaspoon of oil. I had a little whole wheat couscous with it. 3/4 of the way through I started getting terrible chest pains and a lot of saliva in my mouth. I thought I was going to throw up then I remembered I had some Papaya Enzymes so I took 4 of them and within 5 or 10 minutes I was fine again.

I'm assuming I got stuck on the chicken b/c it was dry right?

What do you use to keep your food from being dry?

I've heard that it helps if you marinate it (like with a low cal italian dressing).

I've been thinking about starting with shredded crockpot chicken that's been cooking in chicken broth when I'm finally allowed to eat it-- I wonder if that will help?

You might try just a touch of gravy. Crockpot works great for bandsters to keep food moist. Any some just can't eat chicken period. Also, for beef I tend to eat it medium instead of medium well.

Sounds like you slimed and got thru unscathed. That's great...

chicken is horrible for me. Ugh try having everything get stuck for 3 weeks in a row. That was a horrible time period...

Make sure you really, really chew the chicken. I find taking small bites helps too.

Yep - tiny tiny bites helps a LOT...chicken can be one of the hardest for me....as well as hamburger patties for some reason! I find I have to go really slowly and chew chew chew. I use a tiny bit of ketchup or BBQ Sauce with my chicken (whatever I have handy) - or sometimes some salsa! Anything to make it less dry is the key.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
