Newbie Here! Banded 9-10-10

I must not be navagating the site properly because I just now saw all of these replies!

Glad to know that lots of people have similar experiences and that we all have our questions.

For the record, the day after I posted about the weight loss I stopped losing! Go figure! I have been the same for 2 days now, but I had transitioned from liquids to mushy foods, so I guess I'm not too surprised. ALSO, after making my gas complaints public, it seems to have become much less of a pain. I can only remember feeling it 2 times yesterday and only once so far today. MUCH BETTER!

Don't know if I'm on the same page as anyone else here, but I have one small frustration. I've lost this 17lbs, with is no small amount and yet my clothes seem to be just as snug as they were pre-op.??? If others lose 17lbs they drop a whole dress size. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. I know that Water weight is a major factor, but I guess i'm already a little anxious about getting a few visable results. Got to remind myself that this is not an overnight process!

Good luck to all you other newbies and thank you for all your responses.

If anyone would like to conversate feel free to private message. I get e-mail notification of those and can respond a little more quickly!

Hello there,

I was banded on the 13th as well. I had the awful shoulder pain for about 4 days then it went. Then came Constipation lol, just in time for probiotic, fat free yogurt so that did the trick( Activia ). I miss Snacks, new TV openers and no snacking, thats hard. I should be on creamy liquids but I did cheat a bit with cottage cheese chewed really well. Mushy food coming up, can hardly wait hehehe...I have only lost 7 lbs so you are doing really great. I'll watch your progress and try to keep up lol ...

Cuppy,

I feel your pain with the left shoulder. It never occurred to me that the shoulder pain would be worse than recovery from the actual operation! I hope it goes away soon for you.

I came home from the hospital 7 lbs heavier and it's just about gone now in day 4. I sure hope to come out of the week better than that though. Way to go on the 17 lbs!

I was just banded on 9/21/2010 in NC. I still have some left shoulder gas pain and alot of swelling and soreness around incisions. Have lost 35 pounds total...10 of which was just this week in the hospital. Hoping the rest comes off as fast and easy as the first 35... Good Luck to all..

Banded Sept. 28th, and down 18 lbs. Wondering if anyone else is sick of Protein and oatmeal? How long is everyone else having to stay on liquids, Protein, and grits and oatmeal?

jribble, Hang in there. It does get better soon. I was banded 9/13 and have progressed to fish, baked potato, soft veggies, scrambled eggs, ground chicken patties, cottage cheese, watermelon, etc. I'm down 34lbs. My menus for week 2 & 3 included low fat yogurt, blended chicken noodle Soup, cream of chicken soup, vegetable juice, applesauce, sugar-free fudgesicles. I tried to mix it up a little by alternating things like hot tea with cold crystal light drinks to keep a little variety. Did you get sample menus from the dietician? If not, I can send you the one I have.

Hi all. Was just banded on Tuesday, Oct 12. I researched it for a year and was definitely ready. My doctor did not require a two week liquid diet and I was def grateful. I think it would be so hard. Hats off to all who have done it. I had bad shoulder gas pain but today it has disappeared. Now just to get thru this incisional pain. Only liquids is hard but i haven't really been hungry so that has been bearable. Well any October banders wanna chat or email, let me know. Good luck everyone!!

I am so with you. I was banded on the 8th, stitches out today and I will be on liquids only until next Thursday. The pain has been out the top. Not having any problem swallowing, although I do have some gas pains...lol I can say today I have felt a little better and I know that all of this gets better at week 2...Best of luck to you and I would love to stay in touch especially since we are so close in our process..

Jill

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
