I agree! I have unfortunately lost a few really close friends who believe i'm lazy and shouldn't have gotten it done. Including my "God sister" who i've known since i was born. What she said to me really upset me to the point where i wish i didn't get it done. And no matter what i told them they didn't believe me. They said i should just join a gym membership and go on a diet, because it's cheaper. Gym membership is CRAZY expensive. And i've completely changed my diet for this operation and have had heaps of help from therapists to do so. Not to mention you still have to excersize everyday anyway!

But luckily my mother has supported me non-stop, and helped me ignore people like my godsister. Theres no point in having people like that in my life anyway.

You're right Lannah! Hopefully your friends wise up and realize how they are acting, including your "God sister"! I still work really hard to lose the weight just like the rest of us! I wasnt blessed with a speedy metabolism!

I'm glad your mom has been so supportive of you! My dad was a really scared when I was banded, but both my parents are very supportive. Idk what I would've done without them!!! Good luck on your journey Lannah! :crying:

The way these people feel is how I thought about this whole Process. I was over 400lbs for 3-4 years and my dad asked me several times, if I would look into WLS. I told him that I could do it on my own. Well 4 years later I still hadn't done it.

I agreed to look into it and within 2 hours of reading about the lap Band online I decided to go to a seminar. After that I knew I wanted to do this for me. I have missed out on a bunch of activities the past few years because of my weight and was Tired of it. I knew that I was ready to change my life style and had a good group of supportive Family and Friends that are all willing to help.

I have only run into one person that looked like He wanted to say something. He just recently lost 70lbs, but he went to the Dr and got a prescription. I don't know if I really get people's True reaction because I am such a large Guy.

I think These people are Idiots. I am only a weak Post op but I fill Like I am working hard. I hope to be able to start a better Exercise plan Thursday after my Doc appointment.

Be proud that you did something to better yourself. I fee like my lap band has given me a whole new life and I'm going things now that I've missed out on for many many years. I'm sure I've also prolonged my life (and QUALITY of life) by several years...and so how much is that worth?

You all need to be proud of what you have done and will continue to do. It is hard, it is even more difficult to explain to someone who has never had a weight problem or looked into WLS.

Just remember the real reasons that you had surgery and what your ultimate goals are. The best revenge or answer to them is to get healthy and live the life you've always wanted. How you got there is unimportant.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
