what happens after you reach goal? Do you get an unfill? How do you maintain?

Though I am a loooong way off from goal, I was wondering that too. Looking forward to seeing the responses.

Your weight loss tends to taper off so you don't really need to do anything. Some people have some fill taken out so that they can eat a little more but for lots of people that isn't necessary.

I just added one more snack per day, and that seemed to stop the loss. But add a bit more than that, and it goes back up slowly, like I am dealing with now.

I just gradually stopped losing and have maintained ever since. No real change in habits, maybe I do eat a few more treats these days and dont worry about stuff like having a glass of wine. But no unfill and I probably do more exercise than ever.

I got to my goal size and decided to quit losing but I was having a hard time eating enough and lost another 2 pounds so I had .2 cc removed and now I eat more. I weigh every day and I am between 132-135. If I am closer to 132, I eat more, if I am closer to 135, I eat less but I exercise the same.

Disclaimer: I have only been at goal for about a month so this is just what I think will work..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
