Don't Be Afraid of the big, bad fill.

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone! Just got my first fill today. 4.2 cc's for a 11 cc band. It was a breeze. They used no numbing solution or anything. I felt nothing. The only time I felt a little soreness was from standing up with the needle still in me to fill the band. A paper cut would of been much worse. I was on the flouroscope machine table and it automatically hoists you up from lying down to standing. Don't be afraid of your first fill. I'm one of the biggest needle chickens there is and it was fine. Horray! I beat the big fill fright beast! He was a big beastie indeed!!!!!biggrin.gif

You are doing great! 27 down that is fantastic. That's what our Thanksgiving turkey weighed - and that was a heavy thing to lug up to the check-out. You gotta be walkin' on air! Keep on going....I'm prayin' for you!

That is so good to hear. I have my first fill this upcoming Tuesday and I am dreading it a little, but excited to get the restriction at the same time.

Keep up the good work!

Debra,

We got banded the same day by the same doctor. I get my first fill Friday Dec 9. I'm a little scared because I can't feel my port. Are you suppost to be able to feel it? I hope everything goes well for both of us. I need some restriction at this point.

Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
