Just wondering about my first fill

Recommended Posts

Okay I had to get my port revised on Monday and my doc said he put 5cc's in there (have 11cc band), on Monday I didn't eat had liquids on Tuesday I ate more than I thought I should have, but from Wednesday and like right now, I don't have an appetite and I notice I go a long time without eating so I try to eat a cheese stick or apple sauce if i'm not all that hungry but I know I have to eat. My QUESTION ISSSS....do sometimes your fill take a long time to set in? I was just wondering:redface:

I can't answer about how long it takes for your fill to set in, but the reason I responded was I am glad to see I am not the only one who has had to have their port redone. I went in for my fill and they couldn't access the port and looked under fluroscopy to find it was rotated. I had 4cc put in but seem to be able to eat more than I could BEFORE the fill...which doesn't really make sense to me. Wishing you luck!

From reading some of the other post here at Lap Band, yes restriction may set in a few days or even longer after a fill. I'm noticing more restriction two to three weeks later, then I lose weight and the restriction is gone. By then I am scheduled for a fill. Do make sure, if you don't have an appetite, that you get Protein in. Very important. Good luck.

How exactly does your port flip or move if it is supposedly sewed on to your abdomen???

@ Zenaida...My port was located just above my belly button. 4 wks post op, I developed an incisional hematoma that caused me to have blood pouring out of my belly button. It was drained in the ER and left me with a large incision in my belly button. So large they could see my port from it. My surgeon said the hematoma caused damage to the tissue and caused the port to come undone (even though it was stitched) and it flipped over. I however, believe a lot of this is the surgeons fault. I had such a large wound and complained of pain and they never ONCE checked the stability of the port until they couldn't access it to do my first fill. Now that it is relocated, they swear it is REALLY stitched into place....we'll see.......

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
