Hi!

My name is Michelle and I am 32 years old. I have a great husband and 2 super boys (ages 7 and 9). I am not yet banded but according to the doc, I should be sometime in January! I have done the sleep study, the blood work, the nuritionist, and go for my psych eval next Friday. My doc doesnt expect any hassle from my insurance company (I have High BP and could stand to lose 100 pounds) so hopefully thats the way it will go.

I am poking around here trying to learn as much as I can before this major life change!

I have lots of questions but am finding my own answers to many just by reading all your posts!!!

Hello there...wanted to wish you luck with the process of getting banded. I'm right here moving along with you. Slowly but surely checking off the list of things that need to be done. Maybe we'll end up being banded around the same time and we can help each other along. Good luck and let me know how you're making out!

Sherry, Where in MA are you? I think I recall you saying you were going to go through BIDMC......I think!! I was just curious where you were. I have seen lots of MA folks but nobody seems near me! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
