October 2010 Bandsters!!

I finally got my date today!! Woohoo! Feel like I have been waiting forever. October 18th they offered me the 5th but b/c of my work schedule I could not do it :) I feel so much better though that I have a date and can now make plans, with time off work etc...

Who else is getting banded in October? I think it will be nice to have others to compare feelings and stories with, as we are going through this.

Good Luck to everyone! New Chapter here I come

Rock on! I'm scheduled for the 25th if the Optifast doesn't kill me first!

My first post--I'm getting the band oct 14--I wish I wasn't so nervous! All the FAQ's in the world cannot get rid of these jitters. It cannot come too soon.

Day 2 post-op.......ouch! Had applesauce and yogurt today no problem. Getting up and down is another story! I'm focusing on the new wardrobe I'm going to buy at the end of this journey:rolleyes2:.

:grouphug: I bet if you look at all the clothing catalogs, that pain will be easier to withstand! LOL.... It is sooo encouraging to hear that it is bearable. I know they say it is not as bad as childbirth, but it has many, many years since I have given birth. And the memory does fade. I'm looking to you to know that I will survive.

My husband is having a very hard time because I can't eat this week. He told me last night that I could back out any time I wanted to. I keep telling him that it will be better....eventually. I will be able to eat most everything I love but in a lot smaller portion. Five more days! If I can hang in there. I have to admit, I have gotten hungry several times. How do you get past this? What did you "eat" pre-op? It is so hard to come up with different things to drink. And of course, the headache! Ugh!

Please let me hear from you. It's good to have friends to go through this with.

Blessings, Pat

Are you putting it in the forum post or on the control panel? On top left of forum web site you will see the words USER CP, click that then go down and choose SIGNATURE. If you have too many lines it won't take it so you have to watch for any messages after you click SAVE or ENTER, whichever it is.

I was nervous too, but just kept thinking about me in 1 year. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow Jojo

Pitpat: Are you allowed sugar free Jello, broth and/or sugar free freezer pops? The jello really helped me and I was drinking beef or chicken bullion a few times each day too.

I had 3 weeks pre-op that consisted of 2 Protein Shakes and 1 Protein Bar and 2 cups of vegetables per day and other than Water coffee tea and diet drinks that was it! I cheated a couple of times late at night but all in all did pretty well losing 15.6 lbs by surgery day. I didn't get headaches at all which is unusual for me on a diet.

Walking is really helping and take pain meds I'm on Tylenol 3's and they help too. I'll be sending you my prayers, you'll be just fine and we'll be dropping those pounds before you know it.:w00t:

I am there with you on the 18th. Having it at Weil Cornell in NYC. More excited then nervous. Just want to get this show on the road!! Good luck to you - I am sure we will talk again..

PuppyBandit: Yes, I am. I am not a fan of bullion....but I might have to change my mind. I will try again tomorrow. The SF Jello really helps but I guess I want to bite something....it's a mind thing. Thanks for the suggestions. if you have any more, just let me know. I do appreciate any advice I can get.

Does anyone have thyroid issues? I do, and was wondering what others are doing about their thyroid. I started out with Grave's disease and then they gave me radioactive iodine. FUN......... When the thyroid bottomed out, I started on synthroid. I've been taking synthroid for a little over twenty-five years. I'm wondering...Now what?! If you have any ino on it, let me know.

Thanks to all,

PitPat:wink:

how about real broth and pretend there are dumplings in it :) I do understand the wanting more thing. I had 4 protein shakes each day and thank goodness they were very filling. I mentally wanted fast food tho
