October 2010 Bandsters!!

I finally got my date today!! Woohoo! Feel like I have been waiting forever. October 18th they offered me the 5th but b/c of my work schedule I could not do it :) I feel so much better though that I have a date and can now make plans, with time off work etc...

Who else is getting banded in October? I think it will be nice to have others to compare feelings and stories with, as we are going through this.

Good Luck to everyone! New Chapter here I come

Ladybug I was just able to take a shower. I had to wait 72 hrs after surgery....uggh, I hated it and it was the best shower ever! lol

Everything is going fine with me but I HATE HATE HATE the gas, I previous had my gallbladder removed and I didn't have this much gas pain. I feel like I have to burp but it doesn't come out and it hurts. I guess there could be worse things. I can't wait to be able to sleep like a normal person. LOL My incisions are starting to itch which is a good thing I guess...yay for starting to heal. I have a total of 5 incisions. YES 5!! WTF? 2 of them are about 2 inches long, one of them is for my port and the other one I have no idea what it's for. The other 3 are less then 1/2 an inch.

Anywho, hope everyone is still doing good. Good luck with everything.

I am getting my band placed on October 18th. I can't wait! I am soo excited that even the liquid diet seems great. Weird I know, but I have had enough of carrying the extra weight around!!

Just wanted to share that I'm down 14 lbs pre-op ( 18 days) and I learned how to add the ticker so today is a good day!!! 3 more sleeps till banding.

Congrats on how well you're doing and you got the ticker too! Prayers on the way for you and all the other October bandsters.

They didn't tell me I had to wait to take a shower so I took one the day after I had surgery. My incisions were closed with superglue kind of stuff. They just told me not to soak in water but a shower was ok - then to pat dry. Walking around a lot helped me with the gas pains.

I have 5 incisions too and the one where the port is is about 2 inches long. I know that they put the camera in one incision, hold the liver back with another and insert/position the band with the other 2/3. I think that's pretty normal according to what I've read.

It really helped when I was healed enough to be able to sleep in a bed. The recliner is just not comfortable! :)

I am to be banded on the 15th in TJ, and I just read through this entire thread. I wasn't nervous, or anxious about the surgery but now after reading all of this I am nervous, and I can feel that my heart rate has risen a little.

eek.

15 days till I get banded. I start my pre-op diet on the 15th. I have 6 days of high protein low carb low fat then 4 days of clear liquids. I am starting to get really nervous about my surgery. I have lost 14 pounds since I began the process in June. Good Luck to all those being banded this month. Keep up the good work and encouragement everyone!

Well I am now officially banded as of 10/7. Im on day 3 and I still have gas pains in the chest and bad pain where my Dr put the port. He put the port not really on top of my belly button, but more like 6-7" above it on my left side.

I havent had any problems getting down liquids at all. The 40oz Isopure punch are great to sip on throughout the night. And the Gas-X strips are a huge help.

Luckily Im able to sleep on one side. Its just getting to that spot without straining my stomach muscles is the challenge.

We have the same band day :) I want to sleep in the bed so bad, but can't get in position without using my stomach muscles. Wow that is some serious pain!

I know what you mean! Let's keep our eye on the end result and just do what we need to do. We can do it! You are being banded on my birthday so we'll both be celebrating. All the best!:)

Congrats to all the October bandsters so far! I'm very pleased everyone made it to the other side all right. :]

My day is tomorrow! Woo! I'm more excited about getting over this liquid diet than anything. Sure, sure... I'll be on the same diet next week but I won't care as much. :D

Wish me luck guys! You guys have been an awesome inspiration! :)

I still have the same pain like you. How I manage it, is I put a pillow on my side. I slowly turn to my side which hurts like hell. But once I get to that spot, I find that the pain is so much less. That's as long as I dont move around.

My band surgery is scheduled for October 20. Now that I've started the pre-op diet, reality has set in. I get more nervous each day. I've been on the pre-op diet for 5 days now. I start the liquid diet on Wednesday.

I am happy to hear everyone is doing well after surgury.I will be banded in three days. I am starting to get a little nervous. Also I am very hungry. Good Luck to everyone being banded this week.

Well I dreamt last night that I called in to dr chris's surgery and asked to look at a band. Then I agreed to have the surgery there and then under local anaesthetic. And watched my tummy move like an alien was inside as the food went down the tube and through the band. But I didn't have any money with me and arranged to still travel to Belgium for Xmas shopping and to meet up with his wife to hand over the money. Was a very good experience and then I woke up. Hope to meet other bandsters 26 October at camponile.

Good luck rockstar!!! It will soon be over.

Hi everyone! Hope all is well I just started my liquid diet today. My surgery is hopfully going to be on the 25th of October. One more final test (tryroid issue). If anyone has any advise for me on liquids or things to do before and after surgery that would be wonderful. Thanks
