  1. Congratulations to both of you! I'm 64 and have lost 59 lbs so far and would like to lose another 31. It is much slower than I thought but it's staying off and that's what counts with me. I know I could lose faster if I was more careful what I ate and exercised more but for now I'm happy with my progress. Good to hear the over 50 crowd is alive and kicking!!!
  2. Hey Fluffy Girl, You are definitely not alone. what I've discovered since banding Oct. 12 is that this is a slow and difficult process but I still have faith that once we have the right restriction it will all be worth it. I lost 23 lbs pre-op but then stayed the same for 3 wks, in fairness I wasn't dieting or exercising, I figure I paid all this money I might as well wait until it's working to try. All of a sudden this week I've dropped 3.8 lbs so that's kind of a boost. From what I hear it's the 3rd or 4th fill that gives us enough restriction to really help so hang in there.Grams PS I don't know what happened to my tracker but I don't seem to be able to find it. did this system change?
  3. LOVE your picture! I'm doing much better, had my 1st 2cc fill but no restriction yet. How are you doing? Not sure how this new format works. Kind of liked the old one better. Seemed easier to navigate. Take care.

  4. Hi, I just found your message today. How are you doing? I found the first few weeks tough and wonder if it was my age or I'm just a wimp. Anyway it does get better. Just had my 1st fill, looking forward to #3. Let me know how you're doing. Lynne

  5. but need at least 6 (Jan). This box needs to be bigger. Keep in touch, and all the best.

  6. slow! I need a boost to get exercising and losing.I think of you often with your little bundle. I have 2 sons ages 36 and 39, a daughter age 32, and 2 beautiful grandsons ages 5 & 8. Like yours, mine are my joy and my blessing. Have you started prepping for Christmas yet? I shopped in the US for Black Fri so that gave me a good start. Your 1st fill is soon isn't it, it doesn't hurt, I have 2cc,

Hi Pat, it's been ages but first my computer was acting up and now I'm having trouble understanding how the new format works. I think I'm sending you a message but I might be sending it to myself. Let me know if you get it. I had my 1st fill but no difference, a woman I met at my clinic just had her 3rd and was hoping for restriction. this is toooo s...

  8. Thanks Pat. Looking after your great grandson must be so much fun, and what great motivation to get healthy. I'm going to see my nutritionist tomorrow which is good because I'm way off track with my eating. Up or down a lb or two everyday so I have held on to my pre-op loss but haven't lost any more since surgery. I joined a new website (that the nutritionist recommended) called CalorieKing and it looks like it will be helpful once I get my fill and get going. How's your knee doing? I haven't started exercising yet but I know I need to. I ordered a new treadmill and can't wait to get it. Will be thinking of you as we struggle through these last pre-fill days together. I get my 1st one on Nov.23rd so I'll keep you posted on what you have to look forward to. Take care, because I care.
  9. I'm with you guys. I HATE this part. Now I know why they call this period Bandster Hell. We'll all be "filled" by Christmas though and let's hope it's the gift we're hoping for! Hang in there we can do it together.

    Manitoba anyone?

Big Ger are you ok? Is anything happening with the Wpg. support group?
  11. If we could control our appetites and lose weight without a fill we wouldn't have needed the lap-band. My Dr. says not to worry about losing between surgery and 1st fill (6wks), but to take the time to heal. You'll lose once you get your fill. Be gentle with yourself.
  12. Hi Pat, How is your journey going? Could use some of your blessings today.:w00t:
  13. I took the opposite approach and told everyone so I have lots of support and they are learning about the lapband, it's good and bad points with me. I'm not ashamed of what I've done but as I'm in the period they call Bandster Hell I am wondering what I've done to myself? I've read enough reports on these sites to know that people are happy with their lapbands so I'm looking forward to feeling that way too. I have 2 wks until my 1st fill and have managed to hold onto the 23 lb loss from pre surgery. I have made an appt. with the psychologist who did my pre-op assessment as she specializes in eating disorders so talking to her can't hurt. Don't be ashamed of your decision I agree it's definitely NOT an easy way out. The important thing is getting healthy not how you do it. Enjoy the compliments and be proud of yourself. the easy way would have been to do nothing.
  14. Good to hear. I have 2 weeks until my first fill and am feeling quite depressed. Hearing that it's working for you helps.
  15. You are definitely not alone. I'm 3 weeks post-op and while not in pain still don't feel like myself. Had the hernia repair too and maybe that's why. Right now feeling "what have I done"? Hopefully after my fill will feel better about my decision. I have no restriction whatsoever and can eat and drink anything. Trying to hold onto my 23 lb pre-op loss. I'll pray for you if you'll pray for me.
  16. I totally think it's a much harder recovery if you have a hernia repair also. I'm a wimp but even taking that into account it was rough. Here's to making it worthwhile.
  17. I think you might be right about the hormones. Try cottage cheese, and scrambled eggs or omelettes. They go down easy and are more filling. So glad we're in this together:rolleyes2:
  18. I'm so sorry to hear about your knee. I can't imagine dealing with that on top of this. Here's hoping your Doctor can fix you up quick. My Doctor won't fill until 6 wks after surgery:sad: as he says you need to heal properly first. It's funny but you'd think I'd never been on a diet before I feel totally confused about what to eat. I see my nutritionist again a week before my fill (15th and 23rd) so hopefully that will help me re-focus. Thanks for keeping in touch, it helps to know I'm not alone.
  19. Glad to hear surgery went well. Walking helps the gas pains. I'm spinning my wheels here feeling better but with no fill having trouble maintaining diet (which is why I had the LAP-BAND®) and having some real down moods and can't get exercising. 3 more weeks until my first fill. Can't wait to get my ticker moving again.
  20. Today's the day... good luck! I'm sending all kinds of positive thoughts your way. Let me know how you're doing.
  21. 1 more sleep and you'll be done with the worry. Think about how great we are going to be looking and feeling next Halloween! Maybe we'll dress up as Playboy bunnies:wink2:. Take it easy today, tomorrow is a new beginning!:sneaky:

    New 60+ Thread

Well hello all. Just discovered this site today. I was banded 2 wks ago and had my staples removed yesterday:scared2:, (actually wasn't bad at all). Feeling much better now, however have also gained my appetite back. 4 wks until 1st fill, anyone else fighting the old "cravings". My Dr. says it's normal to not lose, and possibly even regain a few, pounds during this next stage but that would be so depressing. how's everyone else managing?
  23. You'll be fine! Take your pain meds.(in Canada we take Tylenol 3's), get plenty of rest, walk off the gas. I'm 2 wks banded and feeling good. My first fill will be in 4 wks. and I can't wait. I'll send good thoughts your way Friday.:sneaky:

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi, I missed your posts. I am finally doing better. It was a rough 2 wks but yesterday I was able to downgrade the pain to sore and today is even better. I go to get my staples out in a couple days and I'm sure that will help too. Did you have a hernia repair? I think that's where my pain mostly came from, and I'm a major wimp to boot.I haven't started exercising yet but hope to do a bit today. Sorry to hear about your knee. I have been so afraid of falling, I thought I'd never be able to get back up. My appetite is sure coming back and yesterday I started on some solids (roast chicken, carrots and potatoes) I had a much smaller amt. and chewed really well and didn't have any trouble. I'm down 23 from the start of pre-op but will have a hard time from now to fill time, 4 more weeks yikes. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Keep me posted. Take care, Lynne
