Newbie here, but banded in 2002

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I'm Elizabeth, and I'm a band failure. I was banded in 2002 at 212 pounds. I lost all the way down to 120, but the weight crept back on. I'm obsessed with ice cream. Anyway, I got my last fill 4 months ago at 200 pounds. It was too tight, so I was completely unfilled. Since then I've gained 25 pounds. I'm going in tomorrow to get refilled. I really am sad about basically starting this journey over heavier than I was. I would love to get some support from other banded people. This time I am determined to get over ice cream and get back down to the size 4 that I was!

welcome!

wow, interesting read. I guess this just goes to show us non bandsters that this is complete lifetime commitment and it's not easy :frown:

I'm new here and have enjoyed reading pretty much every thread! I'm sure you will too. good luck on your journey...you did it once, you can do it again

Best wishes on restarting your journey. I am glad you have the band to help you. I understand your ice cream love....I ate a huge amount yesterday, then realized what I had done and made a vow to stick to buying small quantities....notice I didn't say I vowed to never have it again!!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
