Does It Ever Sneak Up On You?

Recommended Posts

I am about to graduate to solid foods but I have been having an issue. Sometimes my food sneaks up on me. I am eating, I think I'm still hungery so I eat a little more and about 10 minutes after I'm done, I feel ill. So full, overstuffed and not like th "good old days". This hurts. It's like the food has expanded inside me.

I follow the drinking rules and eat small portions. Not sure why it happens. Anyone else in this boat?

I guess you eat till you're just satisfied, not full, then wait 20 minutes before deciding whether to eat more. I'm sure I'm going to have this problem too.

Sometimes you can avoid this by slowing down even more when eating. It also depends on what foods you're having....

The band is fickle. You'll get the hang of it and you'll learn when to stop, but its hit and miss until that happens.

Good luck.

YES, YES, YES, YES!! This was just about the HARDEST thing I had to learn, and I still struggle with it sometimes. You have to take one LESS bite than you want, and then wait and wait for a few minutes. There was a while there when I was actually getting up from the table and walking around just so I wouldn't take that one.more.bite.

It's behavioral modification in action. Learn it. Do it. Be it. :)

In the same boat as you! I really take my time between bites. I will take a bite and then think I "need" more... then I will take another, and up it comes or here comes horrible pain. I guess it is just a process of learning and slowing down.

I'm just now beginning to learn and I've been banded for 4 months. I eat what I want until I am comfortable and literally throw the rest away so that I don't go overboard.

Thanks gang! I am about to eat now and I will go very slow and try to pay attention to the little signal of STOP! Let's see how it goes today.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
