how much time between fills

Recommended Posts

I know everyone is different, but I was just wondering what the average time is between fills and what is the average cost? I understand some Drs don't charge you for a year but just wanted to get some info on the subject. Thanks

Catherine

My INS will not cover it if it is < 30 days between fills.

My fills are 1 week apart until I get restriction. I actually just had my first fill last wednesday. I was banded July 28th. They measure what i had in there from surgery and it was 4cc so they added only 1 cc and said see how it goes for a week and then if I do ot feel full after eating the portion size then come back in next week. I can eat alot more than I am suppose too so I am going back in this week. My inurance company Aetna covers all fill for 13 months after the 13 onths it is 150.00 a fill. Hope this helps

My doc waits a month before the first fill and then usually small fills every 2-3 weeks depending on your restriction, weight loss etc.

Large and rapid fills are not good as it can cause problems with your stomach ( like erosion). Every doc is different

I have been getting fills every 6 weeks. However, on my last visit on 8/30/10, I was told that my insurance company is allowing every 4 weeks now. This is really good because my deductible starts over Jan. 1, 2011, and I will have to pay full price ($150) for them until I meet my deductible again. I would rather pay 20% for a couple more fills than full price. I am hoping I will get to restriction by the end of the year. I really think I will be there within a couple more fills.

My doctor wanted a minimum of two weeks between fills (I don't need them regularly anymore though), and my insurance covered them whenever I had them at a copay of $13.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
