I had my first fill today, 3cc in a 10cc band. It was no big deal at all. I was nervous that it would hurt and that I would have too much restriction. It barely hurt, just a little pinch and no gurglies! Glad to know it's not so scary!

So glad to hear that! I am scheduled for my 1st fill on Wednesday the 1st. Feeling a little nervous, but I'm more than ready for restriction!

Keep up the good work :)

And you're on your way! Don't be worried if you find you don't have much restriction yet, though. It takes time and "tinkering" to get there.

Good for you, I had my first yesterday and the doc put in 6.2cc, which seems like a lot! I thought most people say 1-3cc. Does anyone else worry that they won't be able to fill it enough for restriction, can you get to 10cc too fast? I think I have restriction now, but I am on liquids for two days. I am so hungry!

Congrats on your fill.... I just had my first one yesterday... I got 5cc's in my 11 cc band... I go back in 2 weeks for another fill....

I was really afraid it would hurt also, but it was nothing...just a little pinch....

Good luck on your journey....

Janica

I have my first fill on Thursday. I was banded on July 2, 2010 and haven't felt any restriction at all (other than that caused by swelling from surgery). It's been like having a new car in the driveway but no keys to get it started. I'm ready to get this going! :)

Thanks all! I go back in a month, I think for another fill. I feel a little more restriction than before, but I can still eat. I wonder what it's like to be in the green zone?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
