I use my scale at home. I keep a 35 pound hand weight next to the scale and weight it first before I weigh myself. I NEED to know my exact weight.

Oh that's a good Idea . I never thought of that. I'll try that one day.

I don't trust Dr's scales because they weigh everyone on those same scales and who's to say when or if they're ever calibrated?

I go by my home scale which I think is very accurate, I'll know better when I do the above trick.

Not weighing myself right now. I'm just banded and don't want to get on that "I'm not losing" rollercoaster.

My home scale is one pound more, so I know where I stand. I weigh myself excessively. I hate that you can gain 3-4 pounds in a day. I know it evens out overnight but I get so upset at night!

I use the Dr's scale as my official weight. But I can tell when and how much I have lost with my scale at home. I weigh at home naked just before I jump in the shower, which is usually about 4 lbs less than Dr's. Atleast the dr's scale does get calibrated every now and then.

I use the one at home. If it seems off, I'll take a 5lb weight and see how close it is. Usually it is very close.

Keep in mind, the more weight on a scale, the greater margin of error. 35 lb weight is good.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
