unlatched band

Recommended Posts

I have no restriction in my band. After talking to my surgeon he said it sounded like an erosion. When I got an x-ray it clearly showed that my band was not latched. I asked my surgeon before the x-ray if it could be unlatched and he said there was no way. After we both saw that it was he said it was the first time he had ever seen it. It will be an easy surgical fix to go in and latch it back together. I'm just glad that I get to keep my band and start loosing weight. I couldn't find any other information about a band being unlatched. I don't know if it was never latched in the first place or if it became unlatched over time. Has this happened to anyone else?

I remember one other person on her who had this happen.

I'm sorry you have to have another surgery but you're right, this is a small, easily fixable problem and there is nothing wrong with your band. You'll be recovering in no time and the band will start working for you.

I haven't been around for a while but after my band was put in they unbuckled it due to swelling. They left it that way for awhile and then went in a 3rd time and re-buckled it. It was a pain but no big deal other than the number of surgeries.

Just like Jachut I too remember someone that had the same situation as you.

Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
