Normal to be nervous??

Recommended Posts

:confused:how many were/are nervous about getting your band. At times -especially at night, I am even having doubts. Is this normal since my date is coming soon(the 26th)? Mostly I am at ease but those anxieties sure are discomforting:eek: thanks for any feedback or reassurance:smile:

Yes it is totally normal to be nervous. I was concerned about the anesthesia, and after having a blood clot (mini stroke) last year I was worried about another blood clot. I came through the surgery really well. Surgery was afternoon Thursday 8/12 stayed over night in the hospital went home 2:00 PM Friday. My mother is staying with me. Sat afternoon we went out to a couple stores so I did about 15 minutes of walking per store. I am on liquid Tylenol and only have pain when I get up after laying flat. So far I have not had the gas pains in the shoulder that others mention. From the surgery itself/protein diet I am very gassy. I am having a reaction from the tape they used to hold my bust out of the way. I put some cream on it which seems to be helping.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
