OMG!! Congratulations! I will put you on my prayer list. I hope it all goes smoothly!

I have that problem too. I've not been able to do anything about it. I always tended to have a gassy body but now it is worse. Lovely!

I bought some gas defense at Wal Mart. I got 32 capsules for $7.50. It really works but you have to take it every single day.

Digestive Advantage Gas Defense Formula

It's just digestive enzymes.

CONGRATS!!!!! how exciting for you!

I just wanted to say how sorry I am for the loss of your son. I had a similar situation to yours- my twin boys were born at 26 weeks due to my incompetent cervix and my first born son died 3 days later. With my 2nd pregnancy I had a cerclage placed at 13 weeks but didnt require long term bed rest but I was so scared the entire pregnancy.

Keep us updated how you are doing throughout the pregnancy!

So..... Update for me... I am an amazing 13 wks pregnant.. I was preg when I had LAP-BAND® surg... About 4 wks... Didn't show up on their routine urine test... No clue...and it lived...and looks great....just found out last Tues-Jordan, our daughter, said mommy u have my baby brother in ur tummy... I took a test, and sure enough... went to OB, confirmed via ultrasound... A whopping 12 wks... Turned 13 wks on Mon.. And had a cerclage placed yesterday to hold cervix closed since I have incompetent cervix. I am scared. My son was born at just 24 wks due to incompetent cervix, and died 35 days later... Then w/my daughter I had a cerclage and 6 mths of bedrest. It's crazy..we were on the pill and everything... God has a plan I guess.. For now I am leaving the band alone...no prob eating as of yet...so, no need to unfill at this time.... Pray for us!

Wow Amber...sorry you lost your son--it's so hard. I was so scared while pregnant w/my daughter....had cerclage at week 10 and 24 weeks of bedrest. I just had this cerclage at 13 weeks and am not prescribed bedrest. Did you have bedrest at all?

I feel like this time I can feel the stitch too- it's weird. I have a follow up tomorrow....we'll see what she says. Thanks for writing.

I had 2 weeks of bedrest right after the cerclage but after that I didnt have any. I think the reason for my incompetent cervix was the twin pregnancy. I never had any issues during my 2nd pregnancy with my cervix but did deliver at 36 weeks due to an infection in my amniotic Fluid. All 3 of my kids had to spend time in the NICU. Colin was 3 days before he passed, Drew spent 109 days, and then Ryan had to spend 3 weeks because of meningitis that he got in utero from the infection that I had. No more babies for me....I have not had good experiences with child birth. LOL.

Thanks Beachbunny and Laurie for your well wishes.

I know it is a big dream to lose 100 in a year and I will be happy with 75 that will bring me to a manageable weight but I'm gonna really shoot for 100 by 8/16/11. I've wasted too much of my life being fat and unhappy.

I have myself on a no-shopping thing now. I was mad at myself because I cleaned out my closet and me and DH had to take 4 large garbage bags with mostly my clothes ,shoes and bags in them. It made me feel ashamed of being so wasteful and having clothes of all sizes that were either too small or too large. So I want to get to a good weight before I buy anything else. So I have to get on the ball.

timandmich and Amber I am sincerely sorry for the pain you've had to experience and I wish you all the very best especially Mich as you go forward in your pregnancy.

Dee

In the 2 months since being banded, what have you learned.

1. I've learned that I enjoy trying to figure out how to make my favorite foods low-fat and have them taste good. I actually try to see how healthy I can make the food.

2. I've learned that whole wheat pastas and brown rice taste so much better than the other stuff.

3. I have found that I love to try new things, and I make every body else try them with me.

Never say never, Amber... Unless your tubes are tied or something! We were done..didn't want to go thru this again...but, the pill didn't stop this!I only had 2 days of bedrest after the cerclage last week. Since then I am working, and trying to take it easy when I get home.

I'm interested in what my OB will say tomorrow when I see her about the fact that I feel my stitch.

Clayton, our son, was in the level III NICU... 35 days before he passed. Jordan, our daughter, was taken out at wk 36 and only have to stay 2 days in the NICU.

I'm very, very anxious about this pregnancy... I pray all the time for peace of mind. Thx again for writing Amber- it helps.

Thanks so much, Dee..I appreciate it.

Ha! Well, we had to do fertility treatments both times to get pregnant since I don't ovulate so the chances of me getting pg naturally are slim to none. Actually, I wouldnt be upset if I got pg again- I still have crazy notions that I would like another one but its only once in a while. My youngest is 3 and potty trained and I swear that I dont want to go through that again. LOL!

Thanks Dee....it has been a very difficult 5 years for me and part of the reason why Im where I am now- horribly overweight with the lapband. But things are getting better and Im looking forward to getting the weight off and regaining control of my life!

I hear ya on the tough years and weight gain. Clayton was born Oct 21, 2006... Got pg w/Jordan in Dec 2006...... Lots of nerve-wracking stuff going on. Am glad I have the band to help me stay on track thru the pregnancy, but even more excited to use it as planned next year!

Hi all, I've been away from the board for awhile but since I'm starting to struggle a bit I thought checking back in might help. I've mainly been away because of lack of time. We just put our house on the market two weeks ago and with a 1 1/2 year old and a 4 year old I pretty much spend ALL my time trying to keep the house clean!

Anyways, I had surgery Aug 16th. I went in for my first fill on Sept 29th. I am feeling no restriction whatsoever. I have 4.5cc in a 10cc band. I can eat anything and don't even have to chew it more than I used to. My doc did say I probably wouldn't feel any different with the first fill but the second fill should change that. My next fill is scheduled for Nov 17 but I might try and move that up. I have lost absolutely zero for the past three weeks and have quickly fallen back into old habits of horrible food choices. I like Laurie's idea from a post a couple weeks ago...let's start over!!! I think a fill would help me do that since I have do Clear Liquids for 24 hours after a fill.

On a more positive note, I did have two people at work last week ask me if I've been losing weight. That felt GREAT!!!

My first fill was Sept 9th or something like that and I was given 3 cc's in my band (I think I have a 14 cc band) and I had NO restriction whatsoever. So I went in for my 2nd fill this past Friday and I do have some restriction although I know Im still eating more than I should. But I can definitely tell when its time to stop eating which is awesome. And foods that I had no problem with before are a problem for me and getting stuck. Luckily no PB'ing for me I just have to drink tons of Water to get it to pass through. But Im thrilled with the 2nd fill and am anxious to get my 3rd one on Nov 15th!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
