I have a question about throwing up

Recommended Posts

I almost threw up yesterday. It was different. My mouth got all hot and Water and my stomach felt like something was coming up but nothing ever came. So with the band do you actually throw up?

What do you do when you get a stomach virus with the band? I mean is it okay to throw up all day or will it mess up your band somehow?

That question actually came up at one of the seminars I went to. The surgeon said that if you get a stomach virus and throw up a lot for a day or two will be fine.. no problems with that. Chronic vomitting (like buliemic type) can cause the band to shift.

As far as your wanting to throw up, maybe its just your body adjusting to the changes and maybe a form of healing. I would think that if it happens a lot you should call your doctor just to be sure!

I hear that if you drink or eat too much or too fast it can cause you to throw up, especially in the early stages. Of course if your food isn't chewed well enough it can cause you to throw up as well cause it cant move downward but in your case, you aren't eating food food yet, right.

How are you feeling other then that?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
