Surgery in 2 days and i have a scratchy throat!

Recommended Posts

Its just my luck, that i am coming down with a cold and my surgery is in less than 48 hours. I am doing the liquid diet and i am having a hard time. Last night i finished off the remainders of a bag of potato chips. I feel like such a failure. I cant wait till after the surgery, when i wont feel so hungry any more.

I hope my surgeon does not cancel my surgery due to the cold.

I think as long as you arent running a fever then you should be fine.

Gargle with warm salt Water a several times a day for the next couple of days...should help, but I don't think it should be a problem as far as the surgery goes.

Good luck!

You could have that feeling because your body is detoxing...i know that every time i start a new diet my body does that... just drink lots of Water and hang in there...

I had a cough (the remnants of a sinus infection) at my pre-op a week before the surgery and the anethesiologist told me it would be better to push it back a week. She said you want to go into surgery in your best shape possible.... I completely freaked out and went to my PCP and he was like, your lungs are clear....PROCEED. I had my surgery as scheduled - the only down side for me was that I still had a little cough after which was not exactly fun with the incisions - but it turned out fine. I don't think a scratchy throat affects anethesia at all - but just rest and take care of yourself. It will all work out beautifully!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
