1st fill in today after surgery on 6-23-10

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill in today. My doctor told me that I need to be on clear liquid until Monday. Yuck...I am starving and dread having to drink chicken broth for 3 days...I was just getting used to eating food again. 6 weeks post op and was starting to see a plateau at weight loss. I started at 211 and currently 185. For the last 3 weeks have been fluctuating between 182-185. I was definitely able to eat a little more than 2 teaspoons full for the first few weeks after surgery. I hope I did the right thing having a fill. I wonder what would happen if I have yogurt or something before Monday. Has anyone eaten anything after their first fill.

I had my first fill on July 23. I was to restart my food stages all over again starting with Clear Liquids, 5 days for each phase. It was well worth it...(being on clear liquids). I had also hit a plateau and after 5 days of liquids, I had lost another 14 lbs. So your fill plus being on liquids, should help your plateau. Good luck!!

Wow, hang in there! My doctor's office requires 1-3 days of liquids followed by 1-3 days of mushy/soft foods after fills.

I was just reading through my materials and it says liquid pureed diet the day of the fill. 4 hours prior to fill clear liquids only. Then 2 days of liquid pureed followed by 2 days of mushies.

I had my first fill last week. I asked my Surgeon about being back on liquids but she said I could eat my regular diet ( I had just finished mushies and started solid foods the day before), but did not recommend that I tried anything new........

I had my first fill on 8-7 and am supposed to be on liquids for 7 whole days. Is that what most Doctors recommend?

I had my 1st fill last Thursday and had to be on clear liquids until today which counting Thursday was 4 days. I think 4-7 days is fairly normal, but then again I guess it depends on the doctor. It seems like the more I read some doctors want you to be on liquid for a few days after the fill and some don't so I guess it depends on who you ask, which is confusing to say the least.

Thanks for your input. How are you doing? My tummy hurt quite a bit after I drank my liquids, but only in the evening. Did you have any pain?

I didn't have any pain with clear liquids but when I drank a Protein Shake I did experience a little pain especially when I drank it too fast. I ate some chicken yesterday and experienced a little discomfort but not much, not able to eat very much at all, just a few bites and I'm full, and still losing today 177.5 so far 34 lbs. almost half way to my goal.

Same with me. The clear liquids didn't cause any pain but the Protein Shake did. I can't really tell if I have any restriction yet, but I haven't pushed it. Congrats on your weight loss, I have only lost 16 lbs so far, but I am happy with that. How many cc's did they place in your band? I have a 10 cc Realize band and they just gave me 1.6 cc's.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
