is what I'm feeling restriction?

Recommended Posts

Hey fellow Bandsters.

I hope you are all doing well.

My surgery was almost 2 weeks ago. I do feel great, it took me a lil over a week to recover and now its as if I never had surgery.

When my band was placed my surgeon filled it with 2cc.

Yesterday I had my esophogram, drank Barium(wasn't as bad as ppl described it). Everything looked great, so I got the green light to start mushies. Its all going down well, and I get satisfied much much faster then b4 surgery.

I ate 1 and half scrambled egg with a little cooked squash, more than 4 hours ago and I am still as satisfied as if I just ate. Its great. In my pre band times, I would've eaten already again a few times in this amount of time.

Its great to not feel hungry. I'm an emotional eater. And now that I'm satisfied with the little that I eat i cant turn to food, so I am forced to deal with it in other ways. It's great. I got aware of it today. Its such a great feeling.

Anyways, back to the point.

Is what I'm feeling restriction???

Some of it may still be swelling..I just got my appetite back this week after the swelling went away and each day I have found Im eating a little more.

It also depends on what I eat too, I was getting full on one pack of oatmeal then I added an egg white now its 2 egg whites. Hope you are having restriction from the 2 cc's, only time will tell.

I had post op restriction as well- it was wonderful while it lasted. It went away about 2 months out- I has my third fill last week and now I have a different type of restriction.... not sure what it is supposed to feel like but as long as it helps you control your portions and keeps you satisfied then enjoy it :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
