Hi Everyone

I will be having surgery on Dec 13,. When I went to the doctors office back in sept he wanted me to lose 19 lbs before surgery. As of today i have 5 more lbs to lose to meet my surgery weight. I would like to lose the 5 lbs before I see him on the 12th. Anyone out there have any tips?

I have been on a low cab/ liquid diet.

Thanks

Joe

Hey Joe !!!

Congratulations on the surgery date and losing 14 lbs so far. Well, since your on low carb/liquid diet, you might want to check on your calories. See just how many you are eating a day and lower it a bit. Like if your at 2000, try 1800. Drink lots and lots of Water and try walking around more for exercise. That'll be it from me :D

NICE BIKE HANDSOME :)

Joe, I had to lose 17 for my doctor, then an additional 6 for my insurance co. to cover. I spent a few days just drinking protien drinks (I use sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast, fat free milk and a scoop of Unjury protien powder). Not too thrilling, but it helped get the few remaining pounds off.

Hi Joe,

Looks like we'll be going through this together. I am being banded the same day. I can usually drop 5-9lbs the first week of doing weight watchers. If you can get a hold of a book, you could follow it on your own for the next week..that's what I have to do to lose these 3 pesky holiday pounds. Good luck! See you in bandland!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
