I am scheduled for my first fill in a few days, but these last few weeks it feels like I can eat anything and everything. Definitely not as much as I could eat before the band but a lot more than what I was advised to eat, 4-6 oz per meal. I was told to stop eating when I feel 'full' but there are days where I just don't know if I'm actually full yet.

I know once I get my first fill this will change, but since I'm currently unfilled, will eating a little more than what was recommended damage anything? Band slipping, pouch stretching?

Also, I noticed there are times I forget that I have to chew chew chew and I accidentally swallow a large bite, but I don't feel any effects. I get afraid I'm at least going to feel pain, but nothing..

I am very careful about what I eat and how I eat it, but I eat until I'm full. I just had my first fill last week and have had no problems with food sticking yet, even though I've had a couple of accidental big bites. The first fill helped, but I'm not satiated by 1/2 a cup of food yet, so I might eat a full cup and hope it lasts. If it doesn't, I will snack on something. I do go hungry at times, but not to the point where I'm miserable, and I don't think that's expected.

I had my first fill on July 22 and I feel nothing. I think I could eat as much as I want, I never feel full. I am still losing weight bc I stick to the Protein rules and I sometimes go hungry!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
