? about first few days after band

Recommended Posts

I am getting banded on 12/13 and just got my food plan. I am wondering how bad the first few days are and if anyone else had a three week liquids only diet? I am a bit concerned about being either hungry or not being able to get in enough liquid.< /p>

Hey Dawn, you will be fine. I didn't have 3 weeks, but it sure felt that way.

My surgery went swimmingly, and I was even shopping the next morning right out of the hospital.

By 3 weeks out, I was horseback riding.

I'm on my three weeks, today i eat a little bit of fish. But it was very difficult for chewing. I was banded on Nov 8th and i lost 24lb. The first 3 or 4 days was unpleasent. But now i'm very happy. Keep it up.

Hi Dawn and Welcome :)

Wowee that date is right around the corner. Congratulations.

I did 3 weeks of liquids, 2 of clear liquid and 1 of thicker liquids. Everyone is different the first few weeks. Some people are not hungry for weeks and then there's me. I was hungry from day one. The Clear Liquids was imho very hard for me but I kept thinking about the reward at the end (which is more weight loss). Thicker liquids wasn't so bad, more manageable. Then mushies was better and now I can eat everything :)

Hang in there and try not to worry about what you don't know will happen. Hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones and won't be hungry. It will be a breeze, you'll see.

Hugs and good luck !!

Eileen

Hi I was banded yesterday. I have not had problems getting liquids down.Make sure you have Gas X Liquid, pain meds and something prescription for nausa.I am having pain in my shoulder and neck from the gas they use during surgery. I had bought at Walmart a little pillow with a vibrator in it. IT HAS BEEN A LIFESAVER. You may also need a heating pad.I have a back and shoulder with heat massager it has helped alot.I am sore somewhat but the gas pain is the pits.My lower stomach is growling but my upper stomach is not hungry. Weird. Lots of luck it was not that bad.

I just finished reading "Gut Feelings" by Carnie Wilson and she raved about sleeping in her recliner when she got home. I am seriously considering renting one for about a month. Good Luck.

But did Carnie Wilson have her surgery laproscopically? I don't know if they did that back then. My girlfriend had RNY done around then and hers was done openly.

Patty I slept in my recliner for 4 nights, I just could not lay down strait, or even with a bunch of pillows under me. My recliner really did save me :)

i had my lap band done on friday. the liquids went down no problem. yesterday i had only Water and beef broth. today i added sugar free pudding...all went down well.

not much pain for me. i had pain in my shoulders from the gas for about 48 hours...that was it....the hardest part is getting in and out of bed. no recliner in my house, but if i had one i would be using it!!

i was VERY nervous and now am so happy..you will be too : )

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
