Question about Gas X post surgery...

Recommended Posts

Can we take the little gel pills or do I need some that's chewable?

If you can swallow pills you are ok. They can't be any bigger than the size of an M&M. Most of us do the chewables or liquids though. I would in all honesty get the liquid or chewable form. I don't do very well with pills. I didn't get the liquid form of my pain pills either so I had to crush them. DISGUSTING!!!

Gas X also makes strips that just melt in your mouth, they are great. They come in cinnamon and peppermint flavors. They are so easy to take.

My doctor told me I could have either...the pills or the chewable/liquid. It ended up that I didn't need them but it was nice to know I could take them.

I have tried the chewable cherry and both flavors of strips. They work the same, give really quick relief, and taste great, so why mess with a pill?

It's true. I guess I should have mentioned that I used the Gas-X strips also. They worked wonders for me.

I loved the Gas X chewables in mint flavor. They're actually really tasty and worked pretty well. I recommend them to all post ops.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
