Hello and an iPhone app question

Recommended Posts

Thought I'd post a quick hello from a newbie. I met with my surgeon on 7/13 and have just started the three-month diet/exercise program required for insurance. The family is on board and DH is going to join me in the diet program (although he won't be giving up caffeine, the old coot!).

Does anyone out there have any specific iPhone apps that they use to help keep track of diet and/or exercise?

Can't wait to meet others here!

Welcome and congratulations! This forum has helped me immensely. I use the sparkpeople iphone app to track stuff, but I am sure there are others out there. I use sparkpeople.com for the indepth stuff and the iphone app for tracking Water and little things.

I loved the free app called "Lose It." It let you set loss goals, daily calorie intake, and input your RMR/BMR.

Then you add foods and activity from their food and exercise bank which was really really extensive. You could also add custom foods and exercise.

I removed it from my phone and now use LapBand.com and Skinnyr.com to track my weight loss as I am not needing to really focus on my activity and calories as much now.

I downloaded the LiveStrong app and I really like it! It seems to do everything that I need as far as diet and fitness.

Thanks!

Sherry

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
