Port Discomfort When Bending Over

Recommended Posts

Howdy y'all

I was banded on July 1 and I'm just starting my second week of mushies...

Does anyone else feel discomfort (not pain) when bending over or when doing a movement that resembles a sit-up? (Not that I'm actually doing sit-ups, but when I have to sit-up from laying down.:))

It feels like my port is getting pushed under my lowest rib and it's not comfortable.

My port also feels like it's gonna pop out if I twist my body too far when laying down... Do these feelings ever go away?

Its pretty new for you. Give yourself more time to heal and recover. Check with your doctor, but I was told not to do any core or lower body exercises until 6 weeks out.

I had that pain too, bad. I stretched something. I actually called the doctor and was told to not push too hard too soon. The pain was about week 3 and went away in about a week. I used the heating pad at night -- that helped as well.

Take care!

I'm currently 2 weeks out and I have sharp pains around my port when bending over, or even turning my torso. My dr said that I'm still healing and take it easy. He doesn't seem too worried.

I know exactly what you are talking about I am 7 weeks post surgery and I could not figure out what the burning and stinging pain was at my port site when I moved a certain way and sat a certain way it is beter now so I think you dont have anything to worry about and hopefully your pain will cease as mine has:smile2:

It will definitely go away, give it some time. I'm about 2+ months out and if I move the wrong way I still get a "reminder" that my port is there. It gets better though!

Yes, port site pain is expected--it is the most nagging of the discomforts, IMO.

It does get better--and it will change over time, too, as the position of your port changes. (It doesn't really move; the muscle it's attached to seems to move lower on the body as the weight filling out your abdomen is lost.) So, you might find, just as you think you've gotten over the hump and are used to this banding thing, that you have a resurgence of pain in the area of your port. But again, it settles down :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
