Psych Evaluation

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I have surgery date of Dec 13. I still have to get a psychological evaluation. Neither of the two my surgeon reccommends will work. Can anyone reccomend (I know, I can not spell this word!!) a psychologist?

Also, did anyone get cold feet close to their surgery date? I am starting to wonder if this is the right thing. I am scared I will fail and it would be a very expensive failure!!

Ann, First off Welcome to LBT!

I think everyone is scared they will fail. We are all human right? I am a year out and still am scared. I have to tell myself everyday that this tool will work for me and I will not fail. I will not fail. I will not fail.

I was down on myself on my Bandiversary because i only lost 70lbs. but everyone here kicked me in the Butt and told me I was doing the band the right way and right on track with the weight loss. You will also succeed. I can feel it in my bones! :D

Sorry I can't help you with your other question.

Good luck and Keep your chin up!

I will not fail!

I will not fail!

I will not fail!

Just keep repeating it! :):D

I can't help, either, as I actually did not have to have a psych eval...can you call your insurance company and ask who's in the plan? Or ask your primary care physician for a referral?? They just need to make sure your expectations are realistic and stuff like that, so I'd imagine most phsychologists could do that. And yes, it's scary, but it will not be a mistake. It is expensive, but YOU ARE WORTH IT. That's what I had to tell myself, especially since I paid out of pocket. I was so nervous afterwards that it was a waste, but I know now it wasn't, it is really the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. (since my son was born :) ) so, don't worry, be happy, and good luck!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
