Well its nearly here. Only 2 weeks to go until my surgery. I have to go on Optifast for the 2 weeks. My Dr wants me to loose 11 pounds before my op or he will not do it. I have used Optifast before and did OK with it.

I had to wait 12 months for my hospital cover to kick in so its been a long wait but its nearly over. Getting really excited maybe a little scared. Will keep you up to date.

Good luck! I will have my first consultation this Friday. I am so scared my insurance won't cover this....

Why did it take so long for your insurance to accept this surgery? Jw

Hope all goes well for you on Friday. I live in Australia and I did not have hospital cover so when I got the cover they said it was a previous condition and I had to wait 12 months before they would cover me for the surgery.

Good luck to all of you. I start my pre-op diet on Tuesday even though I don't yet have a surgery date. I have to be on Protein Shakes twice a day for four to six weeks! I'm starting early in hopes that it will help me get an earlier surgery date once my insurance approves.

Good Luck everyone!

I have 13 days until my surgery, and I am very very nervous. I started my pre-op liver shrinking diet today and I have a feeling that this is going to be very hard for me, but I know I can do it. What kind of protien shakes do you guys recomend?

The nutritionist at my doctor's office said to make sure you get something that is "100% whey Isolate" for your Protein Shake -- that's the most healthy. I'm going to Vitamin Shoppe on Monday to see if they can steer me toward something that tastes okay.

I went to the Vitamin Shoppe this morning and got nectar by Syntax. It was more like juice and thats why I got it because I am not a milk fan, so slim fast wouldnt work for me. I didnt like the taste of the nectar though, so I added a packet of crystal light lemonade to it which made it bearable. I just want to find something else that I can tolerate so that I can have a little variety

Well, good luck to you all. I am having another surgery to be banded on 8/2 as the 1st one was not put in. I do not have to do a pre-op diet, which I am glad for. I am so ready to have this surgery over with. I started this journey in Jan and wish that the band was placed in May (too much abdominal scar tissue).

Make sure to update the site and good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
