I'm required to go to 8 support meetings in the first year after my surgery so I'll be with the "chew crew" for a while. Hopefully, the next meeting will run closer to "normal".

Did they say that they did it on a regular basis or just to have a taste of steak. I can understand wanting to taste the steak without swallowing it since it is such an unfriendly band food. I've done this to get a taste of something that I can't eat with my band. It's an easy way to solve my craving.

But I completely agree, if it's an everyday habit, then they need help figuring out why they aren't willing to eat.

Congratulations to everyone on their weightloss so far!! I am extremly excited to see my transformation everyday..

Thanks goodness for those who are honest and can answer inquiring mind's questions. Guilty. I've done it less than a handful of times but with very minimal food ie...a cube of cheese, or a piece of lettuce. Again, it is just about getting the taste and being able to chew. I can see however how this can become a bad habit and how gross it really is. Before you know it your chewpitting - thats the best i could come up with - a whole McDonald's value meal. ..

So for those that are pre op right now, good luck on your journey. I lost 19 lbs on my clear 5 day preop.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
