Has weight loss affected ovulation timing?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Tomorrow I am going to have my IUD taken out as DH and I want to start trying for our third baby. We have two boys, so we are hoping for a girl this time around. We plan on charting ovulation and temperature (luckily I have had no issues in the past getting pg - ds #2 was a surprise!) and trying for a girl that way.

My question for you all is, have any of you tried this, and succeeded/failed? More specifically, if you are still actively losing weight while trying, does this mess with your hormones enough that it can cause ovulation to be unpredictable?

I had problems getting pregnant, we tried for over a year and had to be put on fertility meds..however...yes I feel losing weight had messed up my period and ovulation..my periods were shorter and always seems to come anywhere between 27-34 days..so yes I consider them to be out of control...your best bet is to get on Ebay and buy ovulation test strips...I literally lived on these..I tested every single time I pee'd and knew exactly when I was ovualting..they are cheap and work miracles...if you want extra help grab yourself some pre-seed it is amazing..the first month I tried it we got pregnant..it is one of the only lubrications out there that are safe and help with pregnancy..but def get some ovulation sticks, and just test at least 2 times a day..in the morning and evening..good luck getting pregnant!! Hope you don't have to try long :smile2: a really good place to go for trying to conceive is www.themommyplaybook.com there are so many women on there that are trying and have some great ideas..hope this helps :(

When TTC my first my cycles were 35 days with O on 17 or 18. After having my IUD out in Feb my longest cycle day was 29 with O on day 16. And the last two months were 28 with O on 13 and 14! Pretty normal! So yeah I think the weight I have lost has helped.

Thanks for your responses. I have always been fairly regular, though I was never as heavy as I have been in the past year. My doctor has asked me a couple times since surgery if my TOM has gotten more regular, but I hadn't really noticed. I guess now we will see! But is it more likely that now I am lighter that my period will be more regular not less?

My gyno said she wanted my weight to stabilize for 3 months before ttc...though I'm not really sure why as my bariatric doctor said he's encouraged his patients to keep their fills. Has anyone ever heard this before?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
