Banded Yesterday and miserable

Recommended Posts

Was banded yesterday, was at the hospital till 6 at night checked in at 7:30 a.m. Can not stay awake and keep throwing up, been drinking only Water, any thing else comes up. Tried Popsicle and Jello, no luck, the pain medicine they gave me comes up also. In a little pain when i move around but ok, the doctor gave medication for pain, nausea and gas but cannot keep them down. Has anyone ever had this problem, will it get better? I am completely miserable and not lay down flat been sleeping in a chair.

Hang in there. It will get better. The naseua should pass in a few days but it will be less and less each day. You will really start to feel good in about a week. Best wishes for a quick recovery.:tongue2:

I am 4 days out and I had to stay in the hospital overnight due to how far I lived from the hospital. They made me take in fluids at a rate of 30 ml every 15 minutes. I felt very restricted up until today and it has been quite a bit better. Maybe you could try that. If you still aren't keeping even Water down then you might want to call your doctor. They have suppositories, gel that you can put on your wrist, and even tablets that you can let dissolve under your tongue to help with the nausea and vomiting. He could maybe call in one of those medicines for you. Try to eat crushed ice. It will help with the swelling. The popcicles may just be too sweet if you are already nauseated. Sorry you are feeling so bad. I felt bad too, but just know that it will slowly get better each day.

Aww.. I'm so sorry! Your stomach is swollen. If you ARE keeping Water down, you're probably fine, but *do* call the doc and see (as PP suggested) if they can call you in some other form of pain meds and anti-nausea meds. There is no relief if you can't keep anything down.

I hope you feel better soon!

I'm 6 days out and didn't feel like myself till a few days ago. The nausea is most likely related to the anes. It gets better. I didn't take any pain pills after day 2, couldn't deal with the taste of the crushed pills. That makes me want to vomit... god help me when I have to deal with all the Vitamins.< /p>

It hurts when I move also, even if it just my legs...kinda worried and regretting doing this, I have not had this much pain after a surgery ever.....:tongue2:

Hang in there and take your pain meds. I took them for 3 days due to pain. I, too, was nauseated. My doctor prescribed Phenergan and it worked well. Feel better soon...Best wishes!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
