HELP...I have some pain in port area

Recommended Posts

I hope I can explain this well. For the past week my port has been sore to touch. I don't feel it if I don't touch it or if I bend a certain way, it feels sore, a mild pain. I had my realize band done in 2007. For the last couple of months I have had hearburn at least 2-3 times a week.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

I can still eat like usual, no problem there.

Its a sore type of pain when I touch near port site or if I move a certain way.

I hope someone can help me???

you need to call the doc and make an appt sounds like you are having serious issues

putting it off could make things worse

take care and let us know if its a slipped band or flipped port

You've had your band at or near 3 yrs. If you can't account for the cause of the discomfort - it's persistent - and not something you've experienced previously - then a call to the doc is well in order. For all of our benefit as well, please keep us posted so we can all learn together!

I have had my band for several years. Jan of 2006 in fact. I have some pain from time to time, if I lift things that are heavy, I will feel pain the next day. Like a strained feeling. I also have some pain if I wear pants that are too tight accross the band. My port is right on my waist band area. Hope that helps. I would say you need to see your doc.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
