Hi,

Congratulations on getting the band and your weight loss and welcome to the club.

I had my surgery in November 2009 and live in London. I lost 7kgs in my first week also but I have found i slightly more difficult to get into a rhythm but I am still losing weight.

Feel free to contact me if you have any queries or want to chat.

Hi,

You should get the band filled because the process your going through is for life and the quicker you get a routine as to what you can and can't eat the better. I have found that my weight lose since my band fills has been slower, but to be honest I prefer that. It has given me time to mentally get used to a different body and to the different reaction you will get from family. Also, it means that I can tone up a bit more.

Congratulations on having the band!! It is definately a change in your life and the sooner you find the sweet spot with fills and learn to eat that amount the better. I found the only way I lose weight is to train at the gym. The first part was easy. The weight just fell off. then I was stuck at 4 stones for a long time. I started going to the gym more and I lost another stone in the last 8 weeks. I realised also that I was eating more than I needed to cause your brain sees food in a different way. Once your brain is trained that you only need a small amount its much easier.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
