I stick to eating my 1/2 cups of food, but I get hungry like an hour later any suggestions anyone????

Next time you go in ask for an "aggressive fill". They might listen. I did this twice and was granted both. Best wishes!

I was banded on May 3, 2010 and had my first fill on May 26, 2010 @ 1cc, too...

At first I was very hungry and thought that there wasn't enough in the band. I mean I was ravenous. I was eating everything. Then.... about a week later I was getting this 'stuck' or 'full' feeling in my chest. I needed to chew more and take smaller bites..... Now I'm doing well.. .. and still losing weight... I'm not hungry all of the time. I stay satisfied on a little bit of food. I'd say give it a week.... and see how you feel then.

I had my first fill today too and didn't know what to expect. My doc puts the needle in then has you sit up and then injects 1 cc at a time and has you drink Water to see if it goes down. It always did! I felt what kinda felt like a bubble in my throat when i swallowed one time so i thought we should stop since i was at 4.4cc at that point. Soooo...that is where i sit now. I WISH I would have waited until it wouldn't go down but i had no idea that many people get 6cc+ put in during their first fill. I was thinking I was over doing it and worried I may go home too tight, so I had him stop. Well, now I am super hungry. I have been getting more hungry at night anyway for some reason? I am so mad at myself, but luckily a fill is only an hour drive away. Hopefully tomorrow I'll feel some change. Otherwise i am headed back to Denver next week! Don't feel bad 1cc or 4cc..still hungry:crying:

My advice? BE PATIENT. I'm up to 9cc in a 14cc band now, and it took 5 months and 5 fills to get there. Even though I was miserable with the earlier fills, frustrated that I could still eat anything and actually GAINED weight during months 2 and 3...I'm glad now that it was a progressive journey. I NOW have restriction and have been on a roller coaster of adjustments in the last week. But, going from "not" and "barely" to being "slightly" and "almost" restricted as the process went on helped my brain and my body adjust to eating lower calories. The bottom line is that your brain has to change too - making it a slower process that progressively eases you into the lifestyle change is worth it and, to me, the REASON I've been successful.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
