So my doc was pretty vague on what I can eat now. I got creamy Soup, cream of wheat and mashed potatoes. Can I eat canned brown Beans, refired beans etc...? I am 11 days post op.

I'm not banded yet (two weeks to go!) but I have my post-op instructions already.

For mushies, my Dr. says anything goes as long as it is the consistency of applesauce. Beans will need to be mushed up and mixed with a little Water or broth to thin them out just a tad.

Good luck!

Beans are ok for the mushy stage and don't have to be pureed.< /p>

Mushies should include mushed up Protein also. Cauliflower is an easy one to mush up and brocolli, sweet potatoes, peas. I heard asparagus is really difficult to digest so you might want to avoid that. You could take a hamburger and crumple it up or mix it in with some mashed potatoes. Think things you'd eat if you just had some teeth pulled! Good luck, I'll be there next week.

I was just throwing everything in the food processor and blender.

It was an interesting week.

Be careful with flaky fish. It's not as soft as you'd think. OUCH.

Last night I made dinner for my husband and since I'm not cooking, I stocked up at Trader Joes. They make a "Turkey Bolognese" sauce that I would call a "mushie". I'm a vegetarian so I didn't eat it but if I wasn't I would have. It's 80 calories a half cup and 7 oz of Protein. He said it was very good and the consistency was perfect for that stage of lap band eating. You can just microwave it or put it in a sauce pan on the stove--already cooked. He said it tasted homemade and from what I could tell, I agree. I recommend it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
