A different kind of hunger / What does full feel like?

Recommended Posts

I know that I will still get hungry with the LAP-BAND®. I'm OK with that. But my doctor says that with the LAP-BAND®, I should be able to feel satisfied with eating only a small amount a few times a day and I should not get hungry between meals.

I've heard a lot of people on here talk about how a certain amount of food "fills them up" or or about not feeling hungry for a few hours.

I feel like there is a difference between "pouch-full" and "stomach-full". In other words, my pouch can be full and I can't eat any more, but at the same time my stomach will still be hungry. Is this "pouch-full" what everybody is talking about when they say they aren't hungry as often with the LAP-BAND®? Or should my stomach be feeling full as well? Not sure if I need to get another fill - because I'm feeling restriction when I eat - I'm just still feeling very hungry at the same time.

So...Would someone please tell me....what does this "full" feel like?

Thanks for your thoughts!

To me: full feels like if I take another bite, I am going to be in a world of pain and embarrass myself by throwing up.

I think everyone is a little different on the full feeling. I dont really ever feel hungry any more "physically". If I am really busy and doing lots of running around I can go all day with out eating. I have been this way for about the last 6 mo. zzzi think it really depends on how tight your band is on the level of hunger you may feel since it is located close to the nerve that sends the hunger message to your brain.

I know exactly what you mean.

My pouch might not be hungry anymore but even after a meal, especially lately, my "big stomach" will still be growling  If you figure out how to handle that let me know :smile2:

I try to keep my big stomach full of liquids expecially close to meal times it seems to help cut back on the rumbling.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
