You are not required to do a liquid diet? My 2 week pre-op was liquids only.

Whomever told you to eat that stuff should have told you how much to eat.

a quarter cup is usually the suggested serving size. So, any combination that equals 4 ounces.

I was told to try to eat 1/4 of a cup of food and if I was still hungry to eat more. I started with 1 cup of food per meal, no Snacks, but I've moved myself down to 3/4 cup, no snacks.

Maybe you should call your dietician and ask just to be sure.

Prepare about 1/2 cup if all you eat is a 1/4 then save it, you are going to have to gauge your hunger. That would be a good way so you can see what you are actually eating versus what I call, old habit serving. You know when before the band you served yourself a heaping load and ate it. That is my struggle, I am still serve myself before band and my family laughs at me because they know I wont be eating it all. Everyday I work had to make sure I don't overserve myself, but I slip! I am trying.....

Good Luck and Congratulations on your new life :o

I have to do 3 days of "full liquid" diet for pre-op. I wasnt really given a certain amount, the doctor told me to get in at least 40-80 grams of protein/day - using the Protein shakes (2 servings/day), adding protien powder if needed to other things like Soups, cottage cheese, yogurt, SF pudding etc.

Ask your doctor or nutritionist then I would just start reading labels and go by the serving size listed.

Thanks for all of your help. My liquid diet will be for two weeks I have alist of foods i can use. So I think it would be any combination equaling 4 oz per meal. Did you take the Protein Shakes for Snacks? Are you drinking 6 -, 8 oz glasses of liquid. Water , crystal light etc. Do the Protein shakes count as your liquid . Did you drink the protein shakes before surgery and did you start your Vitamins . I am getting nervous and have everything about post op written down but pre op diet is very vague. Im also very excited. I want to feel better without this weight on me.

I only had to do the full liquid for two days, nothing outside that. My friend had to do it for like 2 weeks. I can't imagine that......Funny how different the doctors instructions can be on pre and post surgery diet and behaviors.

Exactly what I was thinking! I have seen many different responses to diets on this website that it makes me confused a bit! I wish they would have a set diet for everyone!!! :-) I know that can't work because every ones bodies are different but it would just make it easier.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
