Feels something hard under large incision..

Recommended Posts

Today after I got done at the gym I happened to touch my large incision in the middle of my abdomen and I felt something really hard underneath. I never noticed it before. Is this my band that I feel?

Most likely, it is your port that you are feeling. Is your large incision near your belly button? Your band is actually up near the middle of your chest at the bottom of your breast bone.

I hate to admit this but I don't know where my port is but the large incision is right above my belly button.

It's your port. You won't ever be able to feel your band.:biggrin:

If you lie on your back and do a half crunch, you should be able to feel your port with your hand. This is how my doctor feels for it when I get a fill.

I was just banded the 17th of May and I feel my port under a 1 1/2 in. inc. above and a litttle to the left of my belly button.

OH! I didn't know where my port was, but I think it might be in the same place. My largest incision is the lowest one, up and to the left of my belly button. And I do feel something hard underneath there.

Thanks !!!! That's good to know.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
