So it's been 10 days since my surgery and I'm down 18.8 lbs from then. Well at least I WAS. Now in like a day I've put back on 4 lbs. Granted I did just start eat the mushy food. Also, I just started my period so it could be Water weight. But either way I'm absolutely FREAKING OUT about putting on the lbs.

Did this happen to anyone else?

I've never been more depressed about a little weight in my life and I'm feeling completely horrible about myself.

It's completely normal for that to happen. You're still healing and now you've gone back to slightly more solid foods than liquids. AND you're on your period? That alone could cause the gain. I wouldn't obsess about it too much. It's going to happen from time to time. Gains that large are never true gains. Theyre almost always Water weight. Just worry about healing. Don't focus too much on the weight loss right now. Good luck! You're going to do just fine and don't be so hard on yourself right now! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
