Getting refilled...

Recommended Posts

I have a "refill" appointment for Tuesday the 22nd. My doctor has always done fills in his office without flouroscopy, and has never had any sort of diet restriction before or after the fill. I'm having this one done at the surgery center where I had surgery, under flouroscopy, and they have dietary restrictions. I guess I'll be on "soft foods only" through Thanksgiving, which is just fine with me.

Anyway, I'm really hoping that since they're doing this under flouroscopy that it will be a good fill =) Anything I should know or ask as a "first timer"?

Jonathan

Jonathan~I think doing your fill under flouro would be cool to see. My Dr. doesn't do mine under flouro...But if you have never had a fill or it has been a really long time since your last one... I would think it will deffinatly get you back on track with your losing weight!! Good Luck!!!

My first was under Fluro...my second was in his office...the only difference...we could see the band and the barrium going down. Other then being neat to see there was no real difference for me...

I am so glad to see you going for your fill....I think you are going to let your band work with you again and that is great news!!! Welcome back!!!

I would love to have a fill under fluro. I think it is neat to see the band at work. The only time I got to see it was my barium swallow just after surgery. I was a little out of it and not sure what I was even looking at. I also had my surgery at SCOR but my aftercare is with SWBariatrics in Austin. I am going in for a fill on Tuesday also. It was tough to make that call knowing that Thanksgiving was just a few days away. I want the weight off more than I want all of the food associated with the holiday. My weight loss has stalled and I have made changes to everything else so a fill is the next logically step.

Good luck with you fill and I hope it kick starts your weightloss.

Good for you! I am glad to see you are making that step, and I'm sure you feel great about it, too! Skip the lydocaine, it doesn't hurt enough to get stuck twice! Good luck, Cindy

I had my surgery at SCOR too, and that's where I'm getting this fill at. My normal aftercare is also with SWB. Dr. Fass is my doctor.

I think getting a fill before the holiday is a great idea =) It's just so NOT worth gaining weight for...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
