2 weeks post-op, just checking in

Recommended Posts

Had my band done on May 3 & have been feeling great. The recovery was quick & easy, I have been walking the neighborhood since the day after surgery & am starting to advance my diet slowly as recommended. Tomorrow I can start adding hot cereals & scrambled eggs & stuff like that. I wish I had done this a few yrs ago, I had thought about it so many times but always chickened out. If I had known how easy it was & how motivated & in control it makes me feel....anyway, I just wish I had done it a while ago when I first considered it which was about 3 yrs ago. Oh well, looking forward to the new & better life this is gonna give me! I hope everyone is doing well that has been banded recently, and good luck to all those getting ready to have the surgery!! No looking back--only forward!!!:)

Hey Dottie Ann.. good for you. Keep up that positive attitude! I was banded on May 3, too and am doing well. I'm on the second stage of foods and have been getting hungry at times. I've been walking and exercising with my Wii fit and Sports Resort package. I see my doc again on Wednesday.

I also was banded on May 3rd and doing great it was a pretty easy recovery for me as well except for gas in the shoulder... I am on fish and mashed potatoes, also today I can start ground chicken and turkey..... YEAH... I have started at the gym so that part has been great. I go back to the dr. on June 11th was hoping to get in sooner than that b/c I am hungry all the time!!!!

Hey Dottie Ann,

Congratulations. Sounds like you are on your way. I was a May 3rd as well. Although I wish it would come off faster I am still making small progress. At times I think I am in Bandster Hell waiting on the first fill (scheduled for the 29th of June) but I am making progress so I too am happy with the decision I have made.

Keep us posted.

Dave

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
