2 wks post-op...Why am I so tired!

Recommended Posts

I was banded 2 weeks ago. I was feeling great, and the last few days have been miserable. I feel sooo weak and all I want to do is sleep.

I'm meeting my Protein requirements, and getting all my Vitamins & supplements. Is this normal, and when will it go away?

Getting enough calories?? Water? Iron? Any signs of infection maybe?

If it persists I suggest you contact your surgeon or even your PCP (esp. If you were self pay for the band it would be cheaper or free thru your insurance.) You should ask for some blood work to see if your deficient in anything.

Feel better! Good luck!

Hi:

I started mourning food when I was post op and it made me feel depressed. When I'm depressed I'm exhausted. Luckily it didn't last too long. Some people react differently to anesthesia.

If you're eating enough Protein and calories and taking Vitamins it sounds like you're doing the right things.

I agree with Sashay02.

I hope you feel better soon.

Sue

i had never had surgery before, and i was surprised at how tired i was for about a month. i didn't feel bad per se, but now i can look back and just see an exhaustion.

i know it is hard to sit back and wait it out. we always have so much to do. take care of yourself, and i hope you start feeling better soon.

It's completely normal. Our incisions are tiny, but they do not reflect all that our bodies have endured. You had general anesthesia, 5 incisions were made in your abdomen, your organs were manipulated, and your mode of nourishment was pretty dramatically changed.

Your body has a lot more to recover from than the surface tells!

You will feel much more like yourself very soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
