Hi Betsy - how many cc's do you have in your band & are you in the green zone?

I've had 3 fills & now have 9 cc's in my 11cc band. I am feeling a bit of restriction - but not sure I'm there yet.

Thanks,

Dawn

I have 7.3 ccs in an 11-cc Realize band. I'm approaching restriction, but am not quite there yet. It sounds as though we're in the same boat!

I was banded on 4/7/10 and did 2 weeks of liquid and just finishing my 2 week mushy.. i have cheated ive had a little bowl of mac cheese, sugar, sugar free ice cream. its all about portion and just becareful with hard stuff you are still healing thats the only think i worry about. Ive still lost weight because im not eating the whole box of mac cheese or the donuts people bring into work. you can not deprive yourself of treats as long as its not all the time. Your doing great! no worries......good luck

Thanks everyone! I haven't cheated since Saturday, granted, not a very long time. I've lost 22 lbs so far, so I'm trying to focus on that, not the fact that I've had 8 Ritz crackers in 24 days.

I am so glad everyone here understands, I was banded 4/7 and I will start normal foods tomorrow, but during the mushy stage I stopped weighing myself, and I eat from small bowls. I have also started eating chinese food because it is really light on the stomach and it is healthier with not MSG. I think I am going to continue eating from the small bowls and keep drinking 70 - 80 ounces of Water. I think we all have come to the realization that the food is going to be there it is just how we deal with it. I have not touched Pasta, bread, spaghetti or sweets, because I figured I ate all that before the band and I can do without it after the band ;o)

Let keep encouraging each other and allow us to make mistakes, because my co workers don't understand and my family supports me but sometimes they question what I eat which drive me nuts. So thanks to you all for the support you show in hear, it helps me a lot!~

I dont think that was a bad cheat. It's not like you went out and shoveled several dozen Big Mac's down ya throat. Just last night I had a Skinny Cow Ice Cream Cone..and actually I just ate the ice cream off the top and gave the rest to my 14 yr old. I personally think if we deprived ourselves we might go into some kind of Super Pig Out phase to where we make ourselves sick.

I am 3 weeks Post Op and amazed you can handle crackers they make feel like I am gonna choke. I think you are doing GREAT ! :blushing:

I was banded on 4/8/10 and find that evenings are hardest for me as well. My doc says 3 meals a day only, no snacking the only thing that helps at all is I make Protein shakes everymorning and then freeze the rest as pops so no added calories and get the extra needed Protein. Go in for first fill 5/10. like the others have said tho don't beat up on yourself this is a one day at a time journey.

OMG that is THE best idea!!! Thank you!

We need to dump the term "cheating". I have found that most diets don't actually "fail", they just get tiresome and we give up on them. One of the reasons is that we think of them as short term applications...but we need to make life style changes for the long haul. Giving up treats, then feeling terrible that we "cheated" plays into that. parties, vacations, dinners out are all part of normal lifestyles and should be part of ours. The diets I have done the best with were ones I could manipulate to include "cheating" so I felt like I had control and could live without deprivation. That includes occaisional sugar (horrors!) in my tea or a slice of Thanksgiving pie. Because of RA I cannot exercise easily or often and I need a very low calori count...hence the band as a tool. I believe it will give me a chance to have a normal life...but that has to include treats. Give yourself a break...just don't have two slices of cake.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
